Resetting Your QuickBooks Online Account

  • For accounts less than 90 days old (60 days for US accounts): You can use the "purge company" function to delete all data and start over.
    1. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online account.
    2. Once signed in, edit the URL in your browser's address bar. Delete everything after the last forward slash (/) and type purgecompany.
    3. The full URL should look similar to https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany.
    4. Press Enter, type YES to confirm the permanent deletion, and select OK or Wipe Data.
  • For accounts 90 days old (60 days for US accounts) or older: You cannot use the purge function. Instead, you must cancel your current subscription and sign up for a new one.
    1. Cancel your current QuickBooks subscription in the settings under "Subscriptions and billing". Intuit generally retains your data in read-only format for up to one year after cancellation.
    2. Sign up for a new QuickBooks Online company file using the same credentials if you wish.
