Q: Why can one claim for medical expense under their partner's profile but not their own?

A: As shown in the video, your total medical expenses should be more than 3% of your Net Income or $2268 , whichever is less... If your net Income is $11000 for example, 3% of your net Income would be $330 which is less than $2268. However if your total medical expenses exceed that amount, than it is possible you would not be able to claim allowable medical expenses on your profile. In this case, when switched to your partner's profile who has a lower net income--you may be able to claim these medical expenses.
