Disability tax credit (DTC)
The Canada Revenue Agency is experiencing delays in processing Form T2201, Disability Tax Credit Certificate. The most up-to-date processing times can be found on Check CRA processing times. We will respond in writing once a decision has been made. You can also view the status of your application through the progress tracker in your CRA account.
The disability tax credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit that helps people with disabilities, or their supporting family member, reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay.
If you have a severe and prolonged impairment, you may apply for the credit. If you are approved, you may claim the credit at tax time.

Canada Disability Benefit
Disruption of Canada Post services
Due to the labour disruption at Canada Post, mail correspondence from some programs and services may be impacted. Consult the measures in place during the disruption of Canada Post services.
The Canada Disability Benefit provides direct financial support to people with disabilities who are between 18 and 64 years old. The program is administered by Service Canada.
The first month of eligibility for the Canada Disability Benefit is June 2025. Payments will begin in July 2025 for applications received and approved by June 30, 2025.
If you qualify for payments, you will begin receiving payments the month after your application is received and approved. You may receive back payments for up to 24 months from when we get your application, but not for any previous months of eligibility prior to June 2025.
